As Martin will testify, locals are bad for business in terms of pub blogging. As exciting as a night in your local boozer might be, I’m not sure you could stretch a blog out of it over a length of time.
However, it is time to herald the wet-led local of which there can’t be too many remaining.
It’s the only pub in the village of Milton, which has no bus service, train station or shop and not a lot of chimney pots either.
However, it is bucking the trend massively as when it was taken over the best part of two years ago the new owners decided to ditch food and it is wet led now and absolutely thriving.
It is a proper two-roomer, which always has punters in and opens from 5pm Mon-Fri and all day on weekends.
No Sky Sports but a proper grass beer garden, Draught Bass is drunk like Carling and lots of punters who travel in from the nearby villages as well as locals mean it is a throwback of the highest order.
Here’s a map to give you an idea of just how few houses there are…
And a bigger one to put it into context for Dave…
I’ve got a host of photos I could use but this Bass one is always a favourite
and a relatively recent charity bash on a Sunday saw a live Oasis covers band in the car park…
and the atmosphere is top notch.
A local is a boozer I would put within walking distance and this fits the bill, albeit a decent a stroll, but it’s just how you’d imagine a boozer to be.
This has been in the GBG so all the usual suspects will have visited this but it’s been spruced up and is rude health and ticking over nicely with a decent gin selection for Mrs BB and her entourage.
I’d be intrigued to know if any readers have a wet led local in 2019 that can rival this boozer…well worth a visit and not only Bass but other beers are available too!
